Avoid getting banned on Google

Posted 10 August 2006 at 3:03PM by David Morgan in Managing your website

Search engines been hugely successful and are very important to online businesses.

Naturally Google, Yahoo, MSN and the others have rules that they expect users to adhere to. Anyone who falls foul of these could be delisted - cutting off a big source of traffic. So when you're promoting your company as hard as you can you need to make sure you're not going to upset them.

Bytestart has a list of some of the key things to avoid.

If you do get delisted, the only comfort is that you're in good company. In February BMW and Ricoh's Germany websites were delisted by Google for "trying to manipulate search results".

Interesting article, I shall bear those points in mind as at the moment I am trying to optimise my site for good search engine results.
