The Apprentice: seeds of destruction

Posted 10 May 2007 at 8:38AM by Simon Dickson in Light relief

Another cracking episode of The Apprentice this week, as Sir Alan sent the two teams out with a shopping list, a deadline and orders to negotiate hard. But the real contest came in the boardroom afterwards - and if you haven't seen it yet, look away now.

Well, Adam got his wish - and ultimately got what was coming to him. He was put in charge of a team consisting of the inoffensive (and ineffectual) Ghazal, and the two 'alpha females', Katie and Kristina. The ultimately fruitless search for Nigella seeds (er, can't they get Google or Wikipedia on their phone's browser?), and his failure to 'do the math' regarding the game's penalties, led his team to lose the task. All the odds were against him surviving a fourth time in the firing line, and he knew it. In the end, it was quite tragic watching him claim to have been a good team leader, as his team listened incredulously.

Am I the only one starting to get just a little scared of Katie? Every now and again the camera catches a really evil stare in her eye. She's getting more manipulative, devious and tactical, with a growing tendency to interrupt Sir Alan when he's in full flow (which he clearly doesn't like). Her strong character is likely to make her an easy target next time she's in the firing line - but don't be surprised if they take any opportunity to lose some of the quieter ones in the next few weeks.

But my favourite line in the entire episode was barely audible. Katie made a comment about Adam being 'best friends with Mr Pinot and Mr Grigio', presumably having drowned his sorrows the night before. Sir Alan said the comment passed him by... at which his minion Nick whispered, 'Type of wine.' Exactly how low is Nick's opinion of his boss?

Can anyone stop Kristina? Was Lohit actually in this week's episode? Did Simon ruin his chances? Having disposed of the entire Northern (English) contingent, will they now turn on the Celts? Speak your mind in the comments box below!

Katie a little scary?? psycho! If I were Katie I would be running scared of any Northern person. 'Adam can go back home North to his Northern chums', did anyone else hear the volcano erupt and the echo of 'silly Southern snob!' I think that Sir Alan has her marked and I wouldn't be surprised if she's the next one gone!

Well I thought Adam might have pulled his finger out this week, no not at all. I thought he may have been able to pull it off but he got what he deserved despite my support for him last week. Gone off Katie even more this week, she is showing her true colours and is just the type of person you wouldn't want to deal with i.e. arrogant, self-centred snob. Can't say there is anyone that I would really support left in the show now. Will keep watching only to have the satisfaction of seeing Katie fired ! P.S. May be worth watching to see the battle of the so called alpha females. Think the Irish one may come out on top.

Katie won't win but we could be seeing the birth of an extremely lucrative media career for someone who takes obnoxious to a new level!! I wonder whose "stable" she will end up in.

I hope Simon hasn't scuppered his chances as I think he's now one of the best (if not the best) left. He seems like a decent honest person as well, more than some of the others are. Katie is just becoming more and more evil every week with her expressed wishes to see some of the other candidates dead. Is she actually human, or just one of the new forms of other life now commonly found facing down Dr Who on a Saturday night?

Come on Sir Alan - let's hear you say those unforgettable words and make our week "Katie - You're fired!"

As a Northerner Katie has shot her bolt with me. My immediate reaction was "hold up horsey" no northern bullying here. This series of the Apprentice is going to be a close run series. There are contestants hanging around in the background waiting to pounce while others throw themselves at the cameras. Unlike the previous series I picked the winners - I'm not even close at the moment.

Katie has shown her true colours and will go, but I think he will keep her on for a while yet. Ghazal will probably get the push next week. Don't under estimate Lohit. I think the chaps are stronger, and one of them will win.

Well Katie is taking some deserved stick but dare they let her go? I think not, because it isn't about who's best in the boardroom but ratings. These people didn't appear by magic, they were hand picked. I just wonder what goes on in the mind of the person who spotted Katie's traits - brings a new dimension to evil - everything with Katie is personal. Would that really stand up and be sustainable in the corporate world. Great TV though and we've still got Tre lurking in the back ground - wow!! keep it up guys

Katie is not my favourite person, however, if you take her out of the equation, it would make for some pretty dull TV. Her snipey quips and demonic stares keep us all entertained and let's face it, give us great conversation and debate over the office coffee machine on Thursday mornings. Keep her in until the very end I say, there is no way she is going to win. It would be fantastic if she did win and Sir Alan Sugar took his whole operation up North, ha, ha!

The apprentice is the best show on TV at the moment, loving every episode. However is it me or do the quality of candidates this year seem lower? With silly decisions being made all the time, drives me crazy!!! Anyway Tre to win, he just says it like it is and I love that.

KATIE TO WIN! SHE ROCKS! Finally someone who isn't scared to express themself openly and freely! Who cares if shes offensive, Adam was useless and Kristina's an old irish witch. Katie's interesting, ruthless and intellectual - All the things needed for a sharp business mind! KATIE TO WIN!
