How to prevent an IT disaster

Following the launch of BT PC Backup yesterday, it makes sense also to talk about why it's important to backup your data.

Data loss can be catastrophic

Not backing up your data, and losing everything on your computer - or even worse all the files in your business' computer network - can be catastrophic.

Missing files leads not only to a loss of critical things like financial data, but also a loss of productivity. Reinstalling software and re-configuring your computer's environment can take days or weeks. Therefore, it's important not only to have a good backup system in place, but also to backup your data regularly.

Facts and figures on data loss

The Department of Trade and Industry reports that two-thirds of UK companies have suffered data loss and that the average cost of recovery is £30,000. And in some cases, some companies do not recover and go out of business. Don't let this be you.
