The future of green business

Posted 4 February 2008 at 12:50PM by Hannah Gilchrist in Investment and finance

So we're only one month into 2008 and those IT experts from Gartner are already on the hunt for next year's trends, and we're not simply talking about lifestyle changes, we mean things that will be affecting your business up until 2012 - so get out your notepad and start jotting.

First up, we told you it would be big news for business, so it's probably no surprise that by 2009 Gartner are predicting that more than one-third of IT organisations will have one or more environmental criteria in their top six buying specs for computer products.

And it doesn't stop there. By 2010 three-quarters of organisations will use CO2 footprints as compulsory PC hardware buying criteria. And in 2011, they go on to predict that international company suppliers will need to prove their green credentials via an audited process.
