New tool promises better web protection

Ages ago, we mentioned a free add-on from security specialists McAfee called Site Advisor, which promised to warn you of potentially dodgy websites. Now there's a new kid on the same block, promising a few significant advances.
Haute Secure looks at individual content elements, rather than entire websites; so it won't tar the whole of MySpace with the same brush, if it finds one person with something nasty in their profile. And it includes real-time protection, in case you're the unlucky first person to find the problem. It also promises to harness the power of its community, with users reporting malicious websites, and just as importantly, any 'false positives'. It also looks very pretty, which always helps.
So far, it's only available for Internet Explorer, but versions are promised for both Firefox and Safari. It's only a beta version, so be prepared for some hiccups, but it's a quick download and it could save your bacon.

Further to comment 1, will it work alongside Norton antivirus, or will it produce conflicts & slow down the connection, as often happens when two antivirus programmes 'colide'?

There shouldn't be problems running something like this alongside antivirus software: it's doing a slightly different job, so there shouldn't be any treading on the other's toes, if you know what I mean. But I'm a Firefox devotee, so I'm not really in a position to test it myself.

Yes AVG works with BT, Nortan & McAfee does not.
