Marketing to the inbox crowd

Posted 31 January 2008 at 9:54AM by Hannah Gilchrist in Email and communications

Sending junk emails is damaging to brand awareness, but how can you make sure your customers only receive emails relevant to them?

Well most businesses forget that planning emails takes care and understanding. It's always important to remember your audience and whether you have consent to send them emails in the first place. If people repeatedly receive unwanted and irrelevant emails then they will switch off and report messages as spam.

So how do you get out of this foolhardy way of promoting your business? The simple answer - research your customers. Organising a database of who they are, where they work and their size should immediately identify the types of product they might be interested in.

And remember even if they don't need it now, reminding them of your presence makes them more likely to come back and less likely to press delete.
