Instant Chat and the new BT Web hosting

Posted 20 April 2007 at 8:42AM by Melissa Fletcher in Email and communications, Website development

Building a successful website has never been so easy with our upcoming hosting portfolio - launching April 2007.

My last entry on BT Web hosting looked at protecting your domain name using the BT Domain Shield. This week I'm talking about a new tool designed to improve communication with your customers - EasyLiveChat.

Websites are excellent communication tools for conveying important and current information to visitors, such as opening times, products descriptions, prices, etc. Nevertheless, you can't rely on your site to cover every question your customers may have. If they want to find out more; the usual practise is to ask them to send an email and wait for a response, or make contact by telephone. The result is a high degree of "drop out", because customers often give up on a search or try to find the answers more speedily elsewhere.

Successful sites are increasingly bringing the "human experience" to browsing, by providing immediate information without breaking a customer's online experience. The emergence of Instant Messenger type services means that site visitors can get instant sales or technical support, on any subject, in real-time, increasing the likelihood that they will engage in doing business with your company.

EasyLiveChat extends this functionality to the small business. Our convenient tool allows you to add a "live chat" logo to your site, then simply log into it's "back office" and get on with your normal day's work. If a site visitor has a question, you will receive an alert and respond to their query. If you're unavailable, simply click the relevant tab and your customers will automatically be routed to an email form, so that you can deal with their request as soon as you're back. EasyLiveChat is a great way to both improve your customer service and get instant feedback on your site.

Perhaps the best part for some will be the price - EasyLiveChat is free with all BT Business Web hosting packages, starting at just £5 per month and including a range of useful features to improve your website performance.
