BT RingCentral - the power of a sophisticated phone system, without the costs!

Posted 18 February 2008 at 8:45AM by Ian Betteridge in Email and communications

If you're a small business, making sure that you have a professional, business-class phone system is important. The last thing that you want to do is miss out on business because customers couldn't get through to you, or because they have an out-of-date phone number.

But installing a professional level phone system can be expensive and disruptive to your business. Thankfully, there's a solution: BT RingCentral.

BT RingCentral gives you the power of a sophisticated phone system, without having to buy hardware and with nothing to maintain. You can use it with your existing phonelines or mobiles. It includes the choice of either a Freephone number for your customers or an 0844 number allowing your customers to contact you either free of charge or at local rates no matter where you're located - handy if your business moves.

BT RingCentral comes with an easy-to-use web interface which lets you do call management simply and easily. You can create up to 50 virtual extensions, and the voicemail feature allows you to receive your messages via email. You can even create a "Click to call" button for your web site, allowing someone to call

You can transfer existing calls, put someone on hold (with customisable hold music), and set up multi-way phone conferences.

BT RingCentral starts at £15 per month (exc. VAT), and there's a free trial available.

You should know better than suggesting 0844 is "local rates" - these can range from anywhere between 1p and 5p per minute as the cost to the caller. I'd hardly call 5p per minute "local rate", especially as 5p per minute 0844 numbers are the most popular. The other consideration is that the rate is the same at all times, so you could be paying 5p per minute at a weekend.

I am surprised google have not suggested something like this yet, with their rapid increase of companies they are buying over and increasing portfolio. Microsoft or BT being monopoly's? Google is the new kid in the block for that!

Though the above idea has potential in many way's indead in terms of allowing you to alway's be connected to your customers and providing the customer service that makes their buisness, should it not be provided free of charge?

If you are already a BT Connect customer and may have a selection of their products already, surley BT themselves can see that they should reward loyal customers themselves, and provide such things and 0844 numbers FREE OF USE for customers as well as those who take it up?

That is but only a small thought indeed for you guy's at BT to think about.
