Accept online payments with BT and WorldPay

Posted 5 February 2007 at 11:02AM by Alexa Williamson in Ecommerce and online payments

Chances are you shop on the web and you have a website. But have you set up your own online payment system to accept transactions for your products or services?

Not only are online sales increasing, but small businesses are reporting that this is a large growth area.

So what can you do if you don't have a system in place? It's worth considering an online gateway like Worldpay because it's one of the biggest names for online payments.

Having used it, I can say it provides a user-friendly interface for customers to make quick payments. You simply fill in your personal and credit card details and you're done in a minute.

You can get Worldpay up and running, with BT, within 72 hours.

It has all the bells and whistles you need, including:

  • funds going directly to your bank account after payments are approved
  • 120 currencies accepted
  • security measures such as encryption and enhanced anti-fraud options

Getting a secure system in place is the first step for successfully accepting payments online - the second is assuring customers of its security!

You can do this by:

  • Displaying the gateway logo and any other of your anti-fraud/security logos prominently
  • Making sure that there is a lock icon displayed on the browser status bar to advertise that you are using a secure connection
  • Making sure you display your privacy policy, stating how personal details are used
