The email-free customers

Posted 20 May 2008 at 8:29AM by Ian Betteridge in Doing business online

Although online is clearly the way to go, it's always worth remembering that not everyone is as online-savvy as you think. In a new survey by Park Associates, the company found that some 21% of Americans had never sent an email - with 30% never having used a computer to create a document.

So who are these people, on the other side of the "digital divide"? Largely, they are either older than 65 or have no formal qualifications, which means they tend to be in groups with lower than average incomes.

So if your business is trying to reach this group, remember that online isn't the only way you should be trying to get to them - combine online with traditional advertising and marketing methods in order to ensure you cover all the bases.
