Google's new tool for online advertisers

Posted 13 August 2007 at 8:33AM by Simon Dickson in Doing business online

If you're one of the growing number of people advertising your business using Google's pay-per-click system, you might want to try Adwords Editor - Google's downloadable campaign management tool. Version 4 is now available for Windows, with a Mac version to follow shortly. (They're usually pretty good on this.)

Adwords Editor allows you to work offline, preparing large-scale changes to your advertising efforts across multiple accounts, and activating them all at once, with a single click. It also includes the ability to import and export, allowing multiple users to collaborate on campaign management.

Google admits the tool is 'particularly useful for advertisers with large accounts containing multiple campaigns and long keyword lists': it all looks pretty daunting unless you have a reasonable knowledge of the Adwords system. But experienced advertisers may well value the additional flexibility of an offline tool, and you'll always have the option of reverting to the normal web-based administration interface.
