Emerging ebusiness trends for small businesses

Posted 19 January 2007 at 9:00AM by Alexa Williamson in Doing business online

Where is ebusiness (ie running your business in an online environment) heading over the next year - or even the next few years? To try and answer this question, Scottish Enterprise has conducted in-depth research into seven of the emerging trends, which they think will affect small and medium-size businesses, from now until 2011.

The report is called Future trends for e-business to 2011 (PDF) and is available on their site.

The key issues researched include:

  • the need for a richer customer experience
  • flexible working practices
  • mobile and wireless communications
  • security
  • supply chain efficiency
  • knowledge management
  • changes in technology

Although the research was carried out with Scottish SMEs, the findings are helpful to all businesses in the UK.
