Can you trust social networks?

They're great for making business contacts and networking, but are the likes of Facebook and MySpace completely trustworthy when it comes to generating business?
Social networking is almost old hat to the younger generation. Uploading photos and discussing plans for the weekend, but now a new breed of users are reaping the rewards of its economical power.
But is it as great as it's cracked up to be? If you're seen to violate the rules your profile can be deleted, contacts lost and reputation damaged. Plus, are you leaving secure business details open to hackers or potential rivals?
So before posting too much personal info, think about who could be watching.
Why not check out BT Tradespace communities, our social network dedicated to making business contacts.

Im glad to see that Tanvir Ahmad has a good memory. This has been addressed before but I think its fair to say that there are others that may not have been around or need refreshing. Social Networking is improtant but as ever, people and especially business', should always follow the basic internet security guidelines. But yes, this was touched on in Aug '07 and again in Nov 07.
