Can you keep up your ethical lifestyle at work?

Posted 11 August 2008 at 11:10AM by Hannah Gilchrist in Doing business online

Most businesses are concerned about the environment, but not everyone views ethical lifestyles in the same solar-powered light. Sure, research reveals that UK companies are putting energy efficiency at the top of their cost-cutting list, but if it didn't have anything to do with money would they still be interested?

Office initiatives are a great way of encouraging and educating colleagues on the impact of their wastefulness, but unless the company is willing to change as a whole, should you hold you green fingers up in defeat?

No. Not only are more people becoming concerned about the ethical considerations of their business, but an environmental policy can influence staff employment and retention, whilst also giving you a good name amongst your clients and local community. And who knows, you might inspire someone to lead a more ethical lifestyle outside of the office too.
