Better detail in Google Earth

I know a lot of people use Google Earth as an essential information tool in their business - for route planning, or just to get a different perspective on their premises. We've even had scare stories about councils using it to re-assess homes for Council Tax. Although most of the same information is available through the Google Maps website, Google Earth does include a few useful extra features - and I don't just mean the beautifully smooth animation. It's handy to keep your search history on screen at all times; and the 'ruler' feature is an excellent way to calculate 'as the crow flies' distances.
At the start of June, Google added new high-resolution imagery for many countries, and it's being reported that 'most of England is now in high resolution'. Coverage of the rest of the UK - particularly Scotland, for some reason - remains rather patchy. A good test of the resolution is to locate the local football stadium, and see if you can make out the centre circle: and for a lot of Scottish Premier grounds, it can't be done.
Google Earth is a free 15MB download; if you don't know the product, you can view video 'tours' of some of its features. Perhaps inevitably though, most of its coolest stuff is currently only available for US locations.
