60 hours a week - and loving it?

Someone I know recently sent a message out to his friends on a Saturday evening. It said "beer in my hand. Sunny day. In the office. What's wrong with this picture?"
For many people starting their own company, long hours are a fact of life. According to a survey recently conducted by BT Tradespace, half of all small business owners questioned are working more than 60 hours a week - and nearly one in ten are putting in a mammoth 100 hours. That's the equivalent of 14 hours per day, which means they're barely leaving their desks.
Most people in business will tell you that this kind of passion is essential if you're going to make it a success. But it's also worth thinking about whether you can balance things out a little bit better, perhaps by working at home rather than in the office. At least that way your children might remember what you look like!

I was working myself into the ground doing 75-hour weeks, of which, I admit, 15 of those were spent travelling to and from The Big Smoke (aka London). But I have just set myself up in business - a small PR consultancy - and am going to love every moment. It's been hard work and tiring setting up, and even though I may be working 60 hours a week, that end-of-day 'beer in hand' won't be such a long way away in future, as my office is upstairs. Let's raise our glasses to home-working!

I've been there - done it - worked 7 days a week to set up the business. It's hard work if you can cope but at the end it's a joy to have your own ways; you can serve your clients the way you always wanted and most of all making Money of course lol
