COMING SOON: Changes to BT Broadbandoffice!
Posted 2 July 2008 at 8:33AM by Martin Faux in Announcements
We'll soon be launching some exciting improvements to this site!
Some of the changes your can expect to see in the coming weeks:
1. Easier access to the our comprehensive business website
The navigation and overall design will be refreshed to align with the rest of bt.com so you can now access our extensive business destination website. You'll find lots of useful information to help you run your business and access online billing through 'Your account' .
2. More help & support!
The homepage will show frequently updated links to most common support and advice. With just one click you will be able to access the top 5 frequently asked questions about BT Business products & services. Plus you'll find the usual links to our service status and Google search.
3. Removal of the 'personalised' homepage
More and more customers prefer to have quicker access to manage their internet services. This is why we are now changing the homepage so you can login directly to manage your internet services, reducing the number of clicks to access this area.
Plus many more exciting changes are planned this year. Watch this space!

The first link doesnt even work!
Will the new layout actually work or will it be like the trackback which was suppost to be fixed a while ago but still shows that we are in the future?

Would decent Mac support be one of these 'exciting improvements'?
The webmail certainly needs an overhaul, the login process is flakey at best when using a Mac (one is lucky if you only have to login three or four times for it to work), The page load speed is excruciatingly slow, there are layout issues, and the navigation is overly complex.
Apart from that, I don't really think it needs to be changed.

hope its not going to become just another generic bt site trying to flog bt products.
"lots of things to help you run your business" is usually code for BUY SOMETHING FROM US
most folks have enough things to run their business already!

Over the past six months, this webpage has taken increasingly longer to load. I did even consider using a different web page as my default.
So folks, please make sure that your "welcome" web-page loads more quickly than the current version.
Thanks. Mike

Why do so many of us worry when new changes are about to be implemented. Because it is rarely to the benefit of the users.(i.e. we who pay for it) I have used BT services for nearly 40 yrs. Ah Prestel Gold but we always take 2 steps forward and often 1 step back. faster page loading would nice though. Do clients really want this?

John, I think you're right. People often think of change as a negative thing when it can be positive. But having said that - BT, the majority of these comments seem to like the site as it is, and I see a few names who frequently comment on the blog. I hope your most vocal visitors are satisfied with the new site!

I like the site as well. The reason it can be slow is that there is 200,000 users who could potenially need to access this since its relates to their account. Thats alot of bandwidth but if the overhaul takes away that stupid personalised homepage them im happy :)
Well as long as the blogs stay to!

I'm totally dissatisfyed with the BT"office" service when I am abroad, which is very often. I cannot even write a simple short email. When I click on send, I get a Pop Up saying I am navigating in a non " approved " site, with an error number. This happens not just on my own computer, but on my daughter's, and friends, in fact everywhere.....I find this unproductive and totally unacceptable. If your so called improvements to the format may remove all these problems, well then, wonderful I say. Otherwise it will be another useless gimmick!
I don't mind your blogs which are useful ( most of the time ).

This is likely a setting within Internet Explorer on your PC, rather than an issue necessarily with the site (although it is entirely possible to code a site in such a way as to avoid these messages occurring, so you are still mostly right).
In regards to the revamp of the website... I'm not sure. We'll wait and see, but I suspect it will bring more bad than good. Bland mediocrity replacing familiarity, although I suspect that it will remain just as user-friendly as ever (take that how you will).
