£20,000 prize for inspiring small business owners

Successful business tycoon Peter Jones and renowned photographer Rankin are joining forces with BT Business to celebrate and reward inspiring UK businesses through the Essence of the Entrepreneur 2008 competition. Now in its third year, the competition will award 20 UK small business owners that have harnessed technology to help their business succeed. The judges will also be awarding special accolades for best male, best female and best young entrepreneur of the year as well as the most original business concept.
In addition the panel of judges, headed up by Peter Jones, will also select a business to be awarded the title of Outstanding Entrepreneur and a £20,000 business grant from BT. All 20 winners will be photographed by famous portrait and fashion photographer Rankin to capture the essence of their business. The series of portraits will be showcased at a high profile exhibition in January 2009.
Over the past two years the BT Business Essence of the Entrepreneur competition has already awarded a diverse range of businesses from across the UK including a landscape gardener, a retro sweet shop and an all female construction company.
Previous winner, Kerrie Keeling, founder of A Woman's Touch comments, "I was absolutely blown away to win, it's so wonderful to get recognition. The exposure my company has received as a result of the award has been phenomenal and has snowballed to some really major opportunities."
